A team of six are heading off to take part in the Sweden Canoe Challenge to raise much needed funds towards one of our amazing courses. Come rain or shine they’ll spend 5 days, paddling 90km on the Hårkan river through the inspiring and beautiful Swedish wilderness, completely self-sufficient, carrying all their food and equipment for the trip, setting up camp and cooking over the campfire each night.
Come rain, wind and hopefully some sunshine, they’ll share camp sites with the wild life: midges, ants and their BIG ant hills and possibly the odd bear, moose, reindeer, beavers, or elk.
And then there are the portages! To bypass un-navigable sections of the river, they empty the canoes, haul them out of the water, place them onto a set of wheels, reload all the kit and push them over land (often several hundred metres) to the next entry point, reversing the process, un-loading the canoes to get them back into the water, reloading all the kit before setting off again.
It is going to be amazing, inspirational and quite a challenge for the team! Please do support them if you can by making a donation –> HERE
